Clash.gg SEO Case Study

Waves

Kicking Off with Clash.gg

A word-of-mouth referral connected me with Clash.gg when they just started. They wanted maximum reach through every channel possible, including SEO.

Once they reached out, they gave me a trial run with a $3,000 budget. They didn't fully trust me yet, so this test would show if I could walk the talk.

With that small budget, I consulted the devs extensively. I made them understand my SEO plans. Then I put my money where my mouth is – launching a test campaign for one of their game modes.

In under two weeks, we ranked #13 for that game mode's keyword. Mind you, they had zero authority and backlinks beforehand. The results impressed, and everything clicked from there.

Clash.gg's Challenge

Clash.gg aimed for the top 5 ranks across all game modes. Massive competitors around - backed by millions in marketing budgets, even eSports sponsorships.

That challenge alone wasn't enough. At some point, after we just reached a big milestone, a negative SEO attack hit Clash.gg. Thousands of sketchy backlinks flooded in, with anchors like "porn" and "scammer."

The Seomise team and I caught it quickly and defused the situation before search engines penalized us.

More challenges? The brand-new site lacked any SEO optimizations. Its structure? A mess full of technical issues, even indexation problems. The niche? One of the most challenging, since you are labeled as a casino.

Budgeting Clash.gg's Strategy

Clash.gg wanted to compete with multimillion-dollar brands from ground zero. So, quick results were a must.

The best path? Going big from the start. Luckily, they had a sizable $80,000 monthly budget.

I allocated that budget strategically with the Seomise team. We rebuilt the entire website structure and got as many EEAT signals as possible.

But the biggest priority? Authority-building backlinks, since the site lacked citations. A bulk of the budget targeted high-authority domains to gain authority ASAP.

Executing Clash.gg's Strategy

First up? Fixing all technical issues with the Seomise team. The site wasn't even indexed on Google initially.

Next, we built as many EEAT signals as possible into the site. Simultaneously, the team crafted blog content in the CS2 niche to increase our authority there. A huge topical map guided our content strategy of course.

Meanwhile, I worked with Seomise to collaborate with editorial teams for backlinks. We landed many niche-relevant links from authoritative CS2 sites. But we also got featured on major publications like Forbes, CoinMarketCap, Geekflare, MSN, and hundreds more.

Then we created an item wiki for CS2 weapons and skins. This expanded the site structure to target thousands of new keywords, maximize traffic potential and expand our topical authority.

My SEO approach? Not just churning out soulless articles. But inspiring customers with fresh ideas to grow their business. I want to become friends with my customers!

Clash.gg's Road Ahead

Clash.gg keeps expanding. I've personally recommended multiple new features and game modes to integrate. The goal? Boosting user engagement, profits, and reach.

The Seomise team will continue to create fresh content until Clash.gg becomes the Wikipedia of CS2. New features are on the roadmap too, along with acquiring as many new backlinks monthly as possible.

The journey's far from over. We're just getting started building Clash.gg into the go-to CS2 and eSports hub.
