Loltheory.gg SEO Case Study

Waves

Kicking Off with Loltheory.gg

Two years back, I reached out to Loltheory.gg's owner. Their software concept caught my eye. I dug the idea, so I offered my services - free UI/UX design work.

Money wasn't the goal initially. I simply backed the project's vision when it had no income yet. For a year and a half, I contributed unpaid.

Eventually, my efforts paid off. The owner brought me on board as Head of SEO.

Loltheory.gg's Challenge

Zero search traffic. We started from square one, which is normal for this space.

But the niche? Crowded with competitors flexing massive budgets and authority. Household names we had to compete against.

Not to mention Loltheory.gg had a very small budget.

Budgeting Loltheory.gg's Strategy

A tight $1,700 monthly budget. That's all we had to work with initially.

No room for backlinks or big investments. On-page optimizations and content creation were our only play.

We had to get scrappy and make the most of that modest budget. Every cent counted.

Executing Loltheory.gg's Strategy

Competing for massive traffic keywords? Against those authority giants? Not an option.

We took a different route - the blog and low-difficulty keywords with lighter traffic. But the key? Maximum content output within that tight budget.

I went above and beyond, admittedly. More than I should have. But the owner's my friend, so extra hustle came naturally.

It paid off. Five months of intensive content creation delivered insane results. Over 150 daily clicks. Around 10,000 daily impressions. All from blog content alone.

Loltheory.gg's Road Ahead

SEO's on pause for now. Despite some project revenue, the owner's focusing the budget on improving the software tech.

Once that phase passes, we'll start creating new content again. More blog posts targeting low-traffic keywords. Plus a League of Legends wiki to increase our authority in the League of Legends niche.

I've also recommended additional features to the owner. But those will stay under the radar until they're live - privacy reasons.

The journey's just beginning for Loltheory.gg. We've got an exciting road mapped out.
