SEOmise Connector Free or Pro: what is the difference?

Short answerThe free SEOmise Connector from WordPress.org applies every fix you approve. SEOmise Connector Pro, an add-on from seomise.com, adds updates pushed from SEOmise with an automatic undo, and automatic updates. Pro works next to the free plugin and needs it.

Updated 2026-10-21

Why there are two

WordPress.org lists plugins only when they do not install code by themselves, do not update from anywhere but WordPress.org and lock nothing away. So the connector comes in two parts:

  • SEOmise Connector (free, on WordPress.org). Connecting, the SEO fixes you approve (titles, descriptions, structured data, alt text, internal and footer links, sharing tags), redirects, sitemaps, accessibility and speed fixes, health checks and visit counts. Every change can be undone. WordPress.org updates it.
  • SEOmise Connector Pro (add-on, from seomise.com). Installed next to the free plugin. It adds what WordPress.org does not allow: new versions offered from SEOmise, versions SEOmise pushes installed straight away and put back by themselves if the site does not load afterwards, and automatic updates. Pro updates itself from SEOmise.

Do I need Pro?

No. Every fix works with the free plugin. Pro saves you updating by hand and lets SEOmise roll out a fixed version to your site at once.

How SEOmise shows it

On Settings → Connect your website → Site connector, each WordPress site shows Free or Pro with its versions. Something only Pro does (such as installing a pushed update) says "needs Pro" and offers Install Pro.

Getting Pro

Install Pro offers three ways, in this order: Over SSH or SFTP (SEOmise uploads and activates it, where SSH is set up), Myself (the download with its checksum and the steps for your site's upload page, or WP-CLI) and Send to my developer (an e-mail with the steps, a download link for the Pro zip only and a status page). After any way SEOmise watches the site and carries on as soon as Pro runs. See "How do I install SEOmise Connector Pro?".

Sites that ran the older single plugin

Nothing changes for you. The plugin you have keeps working, and its next update from SEOmise brings Pro along inside it, so updates from SEOmise carry on as before.

Safety

  • Pro installs only versions from SEOmise's own download address for that plugin and version, on the SEOmise your site is connected to, and only when the file's checksum matches the one in SEOmise's signed message.
  • Before an update Pro keeps a copy of the current version and puts it back if the site stops loading.
  • Neither plugin ever asks for your WordPress password.
