What happens when my connection drops, and why does the website say "My dashboard"?

Short answerWhen SEOmise cannot be reached (your laptop slept, the Wi-Fi dropped), the app shows Mise with two unplugged cables and "Sorry, we got disconnected. Let's resume." It tries again by itself and carries on where you were. Signed in, the public website shows My dashboard instead of Sign in.

When the connection drops

If SEOmise cannot be reached, for example after your laptop slept or the Wi-Fi dropped, one calm screen covers the app instead of an error on every part of the page: Mise sitting with two unplugged cables, Sorry, we got disconnected. Let's resume.

  • It tries again by itself: after 2 seconds, then 4, 8 and so on (20 seconds apart at most, unless your platform set another limit), and at once when your browser says it is back online or when you open the tab again.
  • Resume checks straight away.
  • Once SEOmise answers, the screen's data loads again and you carry on exactly where you were: an unfinished set-up stays on its step, and nothing you typed in the set-up is sent twice.

A single request that your browser, an extension or a firewall blocked does not cover the screen: SEOmise checks first that it really cannot be reached.

Messages in plain words

When something does not work, SEOmise says what happened in a sentence and how to go on (for example "That project is not here any more … Open it again from your projects"), never a program's own message. Unexpected problems are recorded for our team, with a reference you can quote to support.

"My dashboard" on the website

While you are signed in, the SEOmise website shows My dashboard instead of Sign in in the header, the phone menu and the footer, and its sign-up buttons open your dashboard instead (a plan's button opens Billing). The sign-up pop-up never shows to someone signed in. The website knows only that you are signed in, never who you are: pages may come from a shared cache, so nothing about you is in them.
