How does the Reports centre work?

Short answerReports (in the workspace menu, on each project and in Admin) holds every report you may make: pick a category, then a report, choose the project, the period, the sections and the brand, and make it as PDF, CSV or Excel. Every report is kept in the library, where you download it again, share it by a private link or make a new version for another period. Reports use data SEOmise already has: making one never buys data.

Reports is in the workspace menu. Inside a project, Reports → Reports about this project shows the same screens for that project only. Staff find it under Admin → Overview → Reports centre.

1. Pick a category, then a report

The first page shows the report categories as tiles (SEO results, work and changes, traffic and leads, business and revenue, and more), your Recent reports and a search over every report. A category shows its reports as tiles, each with what it shows, what it reports on (a project, several projects, a client, the whole workspace or a general report) and the files it makes.

You only see reports your role and plan allow. A report whose tool is switched off shows Beta; one outside your plan says so. Reading reports needs access to the project; making, downloading and sharing them needs the Export reports permission. People who see only some clients or shared projects make reports about those projects only.

2. Make the report

  • Subject: the project, several projects (side by side, with a Project column), a client or the whole workspace.
  • Period: last 7, 28 or 30 days, this or last month, this or last quarter, the year so far, the last 12 months, since the work started, since Day 0, or your own dates. Business reports can be compared with the period before or the same period a year earlier. Reports that show how things are now (rankings, website health, backlinks) have no period.
  • Criteria: region, plan and currency for business reports; whether names and e-mails are included for reports that hold them (left out unless you choose otherwise).
  • Sections: tick the parts to include and move them up or down.
  • Brand: SEOmise, or white label with the white-label add-on and your brand set up under Agency → Branding (the report then never names SEOmise). Reports with their own design (client report, Proof of Progress, SEO audit, accessibility, local portfolio) keep it.
  • Dates in: the time zone of the dates on the report.
  • Files: PDF, CSV (one file, or a zip with one file per table) and Excel (a summary sheet and one sheet per table).

Press Make the report: each part is read in turn and you see the progress. A project that has not been scanned yet, or has no SEO audit report, says so and offers to start it.

3. The library

Every report made is kept: its subject, period, state, who made it and how often its links were opened. Search and filter it, open a report to read it on screen, download its files or make a new version for another period (the old one stays as it was). Select reports to delete them or revoke their links.

Each report carries a fingerprint of its figures, so you can tell two copies apart.

4. Client portal (agencies)

On a finished report about a client's project, tick Show in the client portal. The client's people find it under Reports in their portal and can read and download it. Nothing else of the Reports centre is open to them.

Limits

A report covers at most three years and up to 20 projects; a workspace can make up to 200 reports a day; PDFs are cut at 200 pages and CSV and Excel files at 100,000 rows, and say so. SEOmise can change these limits.
