Why is my second website a draft?

Short answerFree, Personal and Business run one website at a time; Agency runs ten (and more can be added). You can keep more websites than that: the others are drafts, kept with their settings and history, with nothing running for them. "Make active" swaps which website runs, once every 30 days by default.

Active websites and drafts

Your package says how many websites run at the same time (by default one on Free, Personal and Business, and ten on Agency), and how many you can keep (by default three, and fifty on Agency).

A website beyond the ones that run is a draft:

  • its settings, scans and history are kept;
  • nothing runs for it: no scans, rank tracking, imports, publishing, automations, scheduled reports, alerts or credits;
  • it shows Draft in your list of websites and in the project switcher, with Make active;
  • opening it shows what is kept, read-only, with Make this the active site or Upgrade to Agency to run both.

Adding a second website

When your package's active websites are taken, the add-a-website screen says so before you start. The new website is saved as a draft, and SEOmise tells you why.

Swapping the active website

  1. Open the draft website, or find it under Projects.
  2. Press Make active (or Make this the active site) and confirm.
  3. The draft starts running and your active website becomes a draft, with everything kept.

You can swap once every 30 days (by default). Before that, Make active says the date from which you can swap again. If you moved to a new domain and need to swap sooner, contact us: our team can reset the wait.

Running more websites at once

Agency runs ten websites at once and keeps fifty. On Agency you can add more active websites one at a time from Billing (€12 a month each by default, prorated on your next invoice), and remove one at the end of the paid period.

Moving to a smaller package

Nothing is deleted. If you run more websites than the new package allows, the newest ones become drafts, and we e-mail you which.
