How does the free trial work?

Short answerPlans with a free trial say so on their card. Nothing is charged before the trial ends. Add a card under Billing to carry on afterwards; without one the subscription is paused (or cancelled) and your projects are kept.

Starting a trial

A plan with a trial shows it on its card, with the number of days. When you choose that plan during sign-up:

  • Some trials start straight away, with no card. You can add a card under Billing whenever you like.
  • Other trials start once you have added your card on the secure payment page. Nothing is charged until the trial ends.

Now and then we ask you to confirm your mobile number by text message before a trial starts. You can also skip the trial and pay now.

While the trial runs

  • Your account → Billing shows Trial ends with the date.
  • If no card is saved yet, a notice reminds you to add one. Press Add a card under Card on file.
  • If your workspace pays with SumUp, Billing shows the amount to pay before the trial ends. Press Pay now to carry on without a break.

When the trial ends

  • With a card: your plan becomes active and the first payment is taken. We e-mail you.
  • Without a card: the subscription is paused (on some set-ups it is cancelled instead). Your projects are kept. Add a card, or choose a plan, under Billing to carry on.
  • If the first payment fails: Billing asks you to update your card. See the article on locked and paused accounts.
