My website was rebuilt on a new platform. What happens in SEOmise?

Short answerA website rebuilt on a new platform is treated as a new website: it gets its own scans, Day 0 and connector. The old version is kept read-only as an earlier version, what worked there is ready to carry over, and you can switch back.

Updated 23 October 2026

How SEOmise notices

SEOmise never changes the platform on record by itself. It asks you when:

  • the scans see another platform: every scan reads what your home page says it runs on (no extra request). Seen on two checks at least a day apart (the default), SEOmise asks;
  • or one check is enough together with a second sign: the site connector has not answered for a week, or fewer than half of the addresses of the previous scan still answer;
  • or you say so: on Settings → Site connector, open Not WordPress? Rescan or change the platform (with your platform's name), choose My website now runs on … and press This is my platform now. If no platform was on record yet, your choice is simply saved.

A new theme, a plugin, a version upgrade or a page builder is not a new platform.

The question shows above every page of the website, in the bell, and by e-mail to the owners and admins.

Your three answers

Open Review the change. It shows the old and the new platform, what was found (for example a response header or the files the page loads), the share of addresses that still answer and when the connector was last in touch. Then:

  • Yes, it is a new website: SEOmise makes the new version. Untick anything you do not want copied first.
  • No, same website: nothing changes. Tick record it as its platform if the website does run on the new platform now; otherwise the same question waits two weeks (the default).
  • Remind me later: asked again in two weeks if the new platform is still there.

Owners, admins and SEO managers can answer. Everyone else sees the question without the buttons.

What the new version takes, and what stays

Copied or moved to the new version:

  • competitors, and your tracked keywords with their search markets and tags (their rank history stays with the old version);
  • the areas and services from the set-up;
  • Search Console and Google Analytics: they belong to your domain, so they move to the new version (figures from before the move stay with the old one);
  • the people the website is shared with, and scheduled reports and client updates.

Kept with the old version, read-only: every scan, its Day 0, rank history, the change history and the old platform's connector, which is disconnected.

Day 0 and reports

The new version's first complete scan becomes its own Day 0. The old version's Day 0, scans, ranks and reports stay on the earlier version, so you can open it and compare. Scheduled reports continue on the new version.

Connect the new platform

The old connector belongs to the old platform, so it is disconnected when you confirm. On the new version, Settings → Site connector shows the ways for the new platform:

  • WordPress: the SEOmise plugin, or Connect with WordPress;
  • Laravel: the SEOmise package and php artisan seomise:pair;
  • PHP sites: the PHP connector file;
  • Shopify, Wix, Squarespace and other platforms: the one line of code for visitors, and every fix comes with the steps for your platform, checked by the next scan.

What worked before the move

On the new version, Website platform lists what worked on the old site, each item a proposal you approve:

  • Redirects for old addresses that no longer answer, each to the closest new page (choose one where none was found). Send them through the connector, or download them in your platform's format: a Shopify import, .htaccess, nginx, Laravel routes and more;
  • Pages that performed: the old pages with the most Google clicks in the three months before the move, and where each is now;
  • Ranks: keywords that ranked in the top 20, so the matching new page becomes their target;
  • Changes that held: titles, descriptions, structured data and internal links that were checked on the live site and never undone, offered again for the matching page;
  • Titles and descriptions missing on a new page where the old page had one.

Nothing is applied by itself: proposals wait under Changes, and nothing is ever sent to the old version.

Earlier versions and switching back

Earlier versions show under the website in All projects and on Website platform, marked Archived. Opening one is read-only: nothing runs for it and nothing is sent to its site. An earlier version does not count towards your plan's websites and is kept for 24 months by default; the owners are told 30 days before it is deleted.

Use this version again makes an earlier version the website again and keeps the newer one as an earlier version. Nothing is deleted. Pair the old platform's connector again afterwards; redirects and changes already published to the newer site stay there.
