A screen from the SEOmise demo, with sample data.

Why it matters

From the problem to what SEOmise does

The problem

Trackers load before anyone agrees

Statistics tools, ad pixels and embedded videos often start before a visitor says yes. A new plugin or tag can add one without anyone noticing, and it is hard to tell from the outside.

What Cookie and privacy scanner does

See which trackers load before visitors agree, and how to fix it

  • Trackers before consent. Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, X, Snap, Microsoft Advertising, Hotjar, Clarity, HubSpot, Matomo and more, each marked by whether it waits for consent.
  • Your consent tool. Finds well-known consent tools such as Cookiebot, OneTrust, CookieYes and Complianz, and checks Google Consent Mode, including whether it starts as "denied".
  • Cookies set straight away. The cookies your site sets on a first visit, before anyone agrees, including ones we do not recognise.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish

  1. We read your pagesThe home page and up to three more (privacy notice, cookie policy and contact page), the way a first-time visitor's browser asks for them, before any consent.
  2. We match what we findKnown trackers and embeds, consent tools, Google Consent Mode, the cookies your site sets, policy links and forms.
  3. You get plain fixesEach finding says why it matters and what to do, with the most important first.
  4. Checked again every monthA monthly re-scan, and an e-mail when a new tracker appears.

Questions

Cookie and privacy scanner: common questions

Is this legal advice?

No. It is a practical guide, written for the GDPR and the ePrivacy rules as they apply in Ireland, the UK and the EU. Whether you need consent can depend on how a tool is set up and why you use it.

Why are some findings marked "check"?

There is no browser on the server, so scripts are read, not run. Tags added later by JavaScript, including those inside Google Tag Manager, do not show, and a consent tool that blocks tags in the browser can make a tag look unblocked. Those cases are marked "check" for you to test.

Does it scan my whole website?

No. It reads the home page and up to three more: the privacy notice, the cookie policy and the contact page.

Can I paste the cookie list straight into my policy?

It is a strong start, but it is an estimate: cookies we saw on your site plus the ones the trackers we found usually set. Check it with whoever runs your site before you publish it.

How often does it scan?

Whenever you press Scan again, and once a month on its own unless you switch that off. When a scan finds a new tracker, your workspace owners and admins get an e-mail, unless you switch that off too.
