How will I know about planned maintenance?

Short answerBefore planned maintenance, a notice at the top of the app (and of the website) says what is planned and when, in UTC and in your own time. During the window a gently glowing ticker stays until it ends. You can close the notice before the window starts; it comes back if we move the window.

Before the window

From a week before by default (our team sets this for each window), a notice at the top of every app screen, the phone app and every website page says, for example:

Planned maintenance: Database upgrade, Wed 28 Oct, 22:00–23:00 UTC (your time: 23:00–Thu 29 Oct, 00:00). Some features may be unavailable during this time.

It also names what is affected (the web app, the public website, the API, website connectors, Mise and AI, background jobs, backups or e-mail) and links to the status page.

Closing it: press × and it stays closed for you until the window starts (in the app it is remembered for your account; on the website, in that browser). If we move the window, it shows again for everyone.

During the window

A ticker stays at the top until the window ends. It glows gently; if your device asks for reduced motion it is a steady highlight instead. It cannot be closed while the work is in progress.

  • A full outage shows the maintenance page instead of the app until the work is done, then the app opens again.
  • A partial window keeps the app open; only the services it names may be slow or unavailable, and the status page shows them as "Under maintenance".

Times

Every notice shows UTC, and adds your time whenever your device is in another time zone.
