How does the Proof of Progress report work?

Short answerReports → Proof of Progress shows what changed since the work on a website started, even months before SEOmise: set "Work started on" (today or up to 16 months back) and SEOmise fills in the history from Search Console, Google Analytics and the Business Profile, counts enquiries, and lays out start against now, the monthly trend with the work marked, the same months a year before, pages then and now and the work log. Send it as a PDF, a live link or a monthly e-mail.

Proof of Progress is under Reports in each project.

Work started on

When you add a website (in the sign-up or the add-website form) you choose Today or a date in the past, at most 16 months back: the longest Google Search Console keeps. You can change it at the top of the report; the change is recorded and the history is filled in again. It needs the right to manage the project.

The date is kept apart from SEOmise's own Day 0 scan, which never changes. The report says both, for example: "Work started on 3 Oct 2025 (set by you); SEOmise's first scan was on 16 Oct 2026".

The history

SEOmise fills in each source from the start date, a few days at a time, and shows its progress:

  • Google Search Console: clicks, times shown and the average position, per page and per search.
  • Google Analytics 4: visits, visitors and key events, as far back as your property keeps them.
  • Business Profile: calls, website clicks, direction requests and profile views.
  • Pages then and now: the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine copy of the home page and the key pages nearest the start date (a link, not a copy).
  • Form entries: counted by your website through the site connector (WordPress 0.24.0: Gravity Forms, WPForms Pro, Fluent Forms, Formidable, Elementor Pro and Contact Form 7 with Flamingo; Laravel 0.18.0: the forms set in the connector's config). Only the number per day and form is sent, never anything a visitor typed.

Rankings from before SEOmise come from Search Console's average position: no other record of them exists.

Enquiries and qualified leads

Enquiries come from the Lead inbox, Landing pages, the website's forms, and the monthly numbers you type in or upload as a CSV (date, source, count), shown as "entered by you". Lead inbox leads that moved past "New" and are not dead count as qualified. Without Lead inbox leads the report says "enquiries (not qualified)".

Your work log

Add what was done before SEOmise, or by hand: date, what and area, one at a time, many at once or from a CSV (date, what, area). Select entries to delete them. The report shows the log as your own record, next to what SEOmise counted itself: changes applied, plan tasks completed, pages published, links built and reviews answered. Work is marked on the monthly chart.

The report

  • Start and now: the first four weeks with data against the last four.
  • Month by month from the start date, with the same months a year before where the data exists.
  • A section without data says No data yet and what to connect.
  • Every report ends with the note: "These results happened while this work was done; search results also change for other reasons."

Choose another period with From and To. Download PDF, Make a live link (password, end date and switch-off under Client report links) and the monthly e-mail need the right to export reports. Agencies' reports carry their own logo and colours.
