How do credits and top-ups work?

Short answerYour plan gives you monthly credits for AI and other paid actions. They renew each month and are used first. Top-up credits you buy never expire. See and buy them under Account → Billing & credits.

Updated 21 October 2026

Two kinds of credits

  • Monthly credits come with your plan. They renew each month and are always used first.
  • Top-up credits are bought in packs. They never expire.

One balance pays for everything that costs credits: AI writing, AI image text, image packs, data look-ups and exports, and more of a monthly allowance once it runs out.

See your credits

The top bar of the app always shows the credits you can use, with Top up (it says No credits left at 0). Every button that costs credits shows its price before you press it, and Top up to run this when you have too few.

When your credits run low (below 10 by default) and automatic top-up is not on, Mise appears at the bottom of the screen: "You're running out of credits", with Top up and Turn on auto top-up. Close it and it waits until the next day.

Account → Billing & credits has a Credits card. It shows the credits you can use, this month's credits, your top-up credits, and any credits held for work in progress. Press Where credits went for the full Credits page: where your credits went this month, the history, and What costs credits.

When a monthly allowance runs out

Allowances such as audit reports or live rank checks have their own monthly limits. The allowance table shows, for each one, what happens when it runs out: more can be paid with credits at the rate shown, or it waits until it resets. By default, more of an allowance is paid from top-up credits. Work that runs by itself in the background, such as scheduled PageSpeed tests, never buys more of an allowance with credits: it waits until the allowance resets.

What spends credits on a schedule

A few things run by themselves and use credits without anyone pressing a button:

  • Article autopilot (Articles → Autopilot): an article's credits for each article it writes, on the days you chose. Switch it off with the switch at the top, or set At most this many a month. With no credits left it pauses and tells you.
  • AI visibility tracker (Toolbox → Research → AI visibility): credits for each question it asks, every week or every month (monthly unless you change it). Set How often to ask to Only when I ask to stop the schedule. A check is skipped when credits run out.
  • AI Plan (Act → To do → AI Plan): the plan is refreshed every morning, and when it has open tasks the AI ranks and explains them, for one refresh's credits a day per project. Switch off Re-rank with AI every morning on a project's AI Plan page to stop this: its plan still updates every morning, in SEOmise's own order and without credits. When no credits are left, the plan is ordered by SEOmise's own rules instead.

The price of each is under What costs credits on the Credits page. Each one holds the credits before the AI starts and charges them only for work that was done (an article written, an answer received, a plan ranked); anything not used is released.

Buy credits

  1. Press Buy credits on the Credits card or the Credits page.
  2. Choose a pack and pay on the secure payment page.
  3. Back in SEOmise you see "Thank you: your credits are in." If the payment is still being confirmed, the credits appear within a few minutes.

Only the workspace owner or a billing manager can buy credits. If you set a monthly cap, the pack picker shows what is left of it, and a pack that would pass it waits until the cap starts again or you raise it.

To have credits bought for you when they run low, turn on Automatic top-up on the Credits page (see "How do automatic top-up and the monthly cap work?").

Held credits

When a longer job starts, the credits it may need are held. You are charged only what it used, and the rest is released.

When a run is bigger than usual

Before an AI action that costs credits starts, SEOmise estimates what it will take from how much is sent (a long page, many blocks or pictures). Most runs fit their usual price and simply go ahead. When one would not:

  • a lighter AI model does the work, at the usual price, when one fits; or
  • you see This one is bigger than usual with the most it can cost ("up to 3 credits instead of 1") before anything is charged. Press Run for up to 3 credits to go ahead, or Cancel. You are charged only for what it uses, never more than the number shown.

To keep the usual price, send less: fewer blocks, or a shorter page. Something far bigger than usual is not offered at all: you are asked to shorten it. Work that runs by itself (autopilots, schedules) is never charged more than its usual price.

Agencies

An agency's workspaces share the agency's credits. The agency's customers can see what is used, but their agency looks after buying credits.
