Tools that run in your browser
Nothing you type in these is sent to us.
- Search snippet preview: type a title, a description and the address. The preview draws them on a computer and a phone and measures them in pixels; a bar turns red past the width search results show (600 pixels for a title and 920 for a description by default). Copy the tags when they fit.
- Structured data generator: choose Organization, Local business, FAQ, Breadcrumbs or Article, fill in what is true for the page and copy the JSON-LD block. Only fields you fill in are written.
- Hreflang tag builder: one line per version,
code | address(for exampleen-ie | https://example.ie/). It writes the link tags for every version with an x-default, the same set as sitemap lines, and marks codes that do not exist (en-uk instead of en-GB, for example). - Robots.txt builder and tester: paste a file, type an address or path and pick a crawler. It says May be crawled or Blocked and the rule that decides, the way Google reads the file: the crawler's own group, else the one for every crawler; the longest rule wins and Allow wins a tie. Build a file writes a simple one into the tester.
- UTM link builder: the page address plus source, medium and campaign (term and content optional). Tags already in the address are kept; capitals and spaces get a note, because reports would split them.
- Keyword list cleaner and combiner: clean a list (lower case, symbols, duplicates, sort) or combine up to three lists into every phrase. Up to 5,000 lines by default; copy or download the result.
Tools that read a website
- Redirect checker: follows each redirect one hop at a time (up to ten by default) and shows each status code, where it pointed and how long it took, with notes on chains, loops and temporary redirects.
- Sitemap checker: type a sitemap or just the website (we try /sitemap.xml, then the Sitemap lines of robots.txt). It counts addresses, last-modified dates, duplicates and addresses on other hosts in an XML, text or compressed sitemap, and reads the first five sitemaps of an index on the same website.
- Meta tags checker: reads one page as the server sends it and lists the title and description with their lengths, canonical, robots rules in the page and in the X-Robots-Tag header, hreflang, Open Graph, headings and structured data types.
- Robots.txt tester: also reads a website's own robots.txt into the tester.
Type the address, pass the bot check and press Check. Each visitor has ten checks a day by default, and the tools pause for everyone after a daily total. Only public websites are read: an address inside a private network is refused, every redirect is checked again before it is followed, and the page, sitemap and robots.txt checkers stay on the website you named. A large page or sitemap is read in part (2 MB by default) and the result says so.
Free checks with their own page
The hub also links to the free website check, the AI content check and Backlink Verify's free check. They run on their own pages with their own limits. Keyword ideas use paid search data, so they are inside a free account.
What is kept
Results are drawn in the page and never saved, and search engines are told not to list a result page. No name, e-mail or network address is stored with a result. For the daily limit we keep a counter keyed by a hash of your network (an IPv6 address counts by its /64), which expires after a day.
Beta
While the tools that read a website are not switched on yet, they show Beta. Leave your name and e-mail under Ask for early access and we will tell you when they are ready. The browser tools always work.
Use what a tool writes on any platform
The tags, structured data and robots.txt rules work on any website: on WordPress in your theme, an SEO plugin or through the site connector; on Laravel or any PHP site in your layout and the site root; on Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or Webflow in the platform's SEO or code settings. Then check the page again with the meta tags checker.
For staff
Every limit, size and text is a setting under Settings → Policies → Free SEO tools: the hub on or off, single tools switched off by their address name, the website-reading tools on or off and whether they wait for a bot check, the limits a minute, an hour and a day, the daily total, the time and size of each read, redirects followed, sitemap counts, the keyword line limit, the snippet widths and the sign-up line and button.
