Where you see it
Under every e-mail MiseGuard sends you with a checked message in it:
- a real enquiry from your website's form, with the visitor as Reply-To;
- a message you delivered from the quarantine (Not spam: deliver now) or from the inbox;
- the daily digest of sales pitches.
It sits after the message, under a thin line. The visitor's text and the attachments are never changed: the note is not added to them. Pressing Reply still answers the visitor.
What the first line says
The first line, with a small shield, says what was really done, and never more:
- Scanned by MiseGuard: no threats found: the message was checked and every attachment was virus-scanned and clean (or it had none).
- Scanned by MiseGuard: attachments not scanned (virus scanner not set up): the message was checked, but no virus scanner looked at the files. Open them with care.
- … attachments not scanned (virus scan switched off for this site): the site's Attachment virus scan switch is off on Protection.
- … the virus scan could not check the attachments, open them with care: the scanner failed for a file.
- Scanned by MiseGuard: 1 attachment removed: a file was not passed on (it held a virus, or it was too large to check). It stays in the inbox's record.
- Released by you from quarantine: you delivered a message that was held. It does not say the message is safe: it was held for a reason.
- Released by you from quarantine: 1 attachment removed: you chose Deliver without the attachments.
- Delivered by you from the MiseGuard inbox: you delivered a message that was not held (a sales pitch, for example).
- Not checked by MiseGuard: the filter is not active for this site: the message came through the inbound address while the filter was off, so it was passed on as it came.
- Sorted by MiseGuard: these were sales pitches, kept out of your inbox: under the daily digest.
When a file was left out, the line also says so (for example "… · 1 attachment removed").
The link and the disclaimer
The second line, Protected by MiseGuard, links to the product's page. The last lines are the disclaimer, in small grey text: MiseGuard checks every message and attachment for spam, phishing and malware, but no check can catch every threat, so open attachments and links with care, and no liability is accepted for damage, data loss or other harm from the message or its attachments.
If your agency gives you MiseGuard under its own brand, the note shows the agency's name and its own link instead.
For mail rules
Each of these e-mails also carries a header with the verdict in a word (clean, not-scanned, scan-off, scan-error, removed, released, released-removed, delivered, not-checked or digest, with ; removed=1 when a file was left out), so a rule in your mail program can sort them. Use it for sorting only, never to trust or let a message through: anyone who writes to you directly can put the same header, or a copy of the note, in their own e-mail.
Can I change it?
The wording is set by your provider. Where your provider allows it, MiseGuard → Settings → Form filter → Advanced → Show the link in e-mails hides the link; the first line and the disclaimer always stay.
