How do I share a project, and what can each level do?

Short answerOpen the project's Settings → Sharing and press Share. Pick a team member or type anyone's e-mail address, choose a level (Viewer, Analyst, Editor, Manager or Full control) and send the invitation. The same page shows who has access and lets you change a level, set an end date or remove someone.

Sharing lets someone work in one project without seeing the rest of your workspace. Billing and your team are never part of a share.

Share

  1. Open the project and go to Settings → Sharing.
  2. Press Share, then pick a team member or type a full e-mail address.
  3. Choose a level, add a message if you like, and send.

Someone outside your workspace gets an e-mail. They create an account to open the project: no plan, no payment and no workspace of their own. The invitation link works for a limited number of days; send it again from the list if it runs out.

The levels

  • Viewer: sees everything in the project and changes nothing.
  • Analyst: Viewer, plus runs scans and downloads exports.
  • Editor: Analyst, plus edits content and drafts and prepares changes for approval.
  • Manager: Editor, plus approves and publishes changes to the website, connects the site, manages keywords and settings, and uses credits.
  • Full control: Manager, plus shares the project and removes people.

Nobody can give a level above their own. Workspace owners and admins can always share. Levels on the page shows exactly what each level can do in this workspace.

Who has access

The list shows everyone who can open the project and why: through their workspace role, a share, or as SEOmise staff helping you. For each share you can change the level, set an end date (access stops on that day), send the invitation again or remove access.

Seats and requests

People with a share above Viewer may use a seat on your plan; the share window says so before you send. Team members can also ask for access to a project; owners and admins answer on the Team page.
