Inside a project, open Analyse → Backlinks → Verify. While Backlink Verify is switched off for your workspace it shows Beta with Ask for early access.
1. Choose what you are checking
- Audit delivered backlinks: a report of links someone says they placed for you.
- Check before buying: sample links a seller showed you. A pre-purchase check says what those pages hold today. It cannot verify links that have not been delivered yet, and the report says so.
2. Upload or paste
Upload a CSV (comma, semicolon or tab separated), a TXT file with one address per line, or an Excel (.xlsx) workbook (the first sheet), or paste the addresses. A second address on a pasted line is that link's own target. The most rows and the largest file are set by the platform (1,000 links and 2 MB by default); an Excel file is also limited in how much it may unpack, and its formulas are never run.
The original file is kept encrypted with its fingerprint (SHA-256) for a set time (30 days by default), so the audit can be compared with it if it is questioned. After that the file is deleted; the audit keeps each row's line number and the fingerprint.
3. Match the columns
Read the report suggests which column is which; change any of them. Besides the linking page, your page and the link text, you can match what the seller claimed: followed or nofollow promised, link type, price, promised and delivered dates, a traffic figure, and the seller's DA (Moz), DR (Ahrefs), AS (Semrush), TF (Majestic) or another metric. These are kept and always shown as claimed by the seller, each by its own name: a DA is never turned into a DR.
The preview shows three numbers that are often confused: rows in the report, distinct addresses (the same page with tracking parameters counts once) and distinct websites. Duplicates are checked once; rows without a usable web address are left out and listed.
4. See the price, then run
The price is shown before anything runs: distinct links × credits per link (1 credit by default), with your credits left. Run the audit holds the credits and checks the pages in the background; Save without running keeps it as a draft. Links that could not be checked are given back when the audit finishes, and so are links not reached if you press Stop.
Pages are read politely: one page of a website at a time with a pause between them (10 seconds by default), within each site's robots.txt and opt-out, public addresses on the usual web ports only. A page that did not answer is tried again later (twice by default).
5. Re-check later (optional)
Tick Check the links again after 7, 30 and 90 days (the days are a platform setting), or press Check again later on a finished audit. Each re-check costs the same credits per link and stops when the workspace runs out of credits. What changed since the last check lists links that were removed, moved to another page or changed, for example from followed to nofollow. Every earlier check is kept as it was.
Where the results go
Links we saw on their pages join the project's link store with the source "audit", so they show in Found on the web, the coverage report and the backlink lists once, without a second copy. Links that were never seen are not added: a seller's claim alone never becomes a link.
