How do I connect a WordPress site in one click?

Before you start

• You need to be a WordPress Administrator. Only Administrators can approve a connection and install plugins.
• Your site must use https.
• WordPress approves SEOmise with an application password. Some security plugins or hosts switch these off; see the other way below.

Connect in one click

1. In the same browser, sign in to your WordPress dashboard as an Administrator.
2. In SEOmise, choose I use WordPress on the set-up Connect screen and press Continue to WordPress. Or open Settings → Site connector and press Connect WordPress.
3. WordPress asks you to approve SEOmise. Choose Yes, I approve of this connection.
4. You come straight back. SEOmise installs the SEOmise Connector, switches it on, pairs it with your project and waits for your site to check in (up to a minute).

If WordPress cannot install the plugin by itself, you are asked for one upload: download the plugin, then in WordPress go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the file, press Install Now, then Activate. It connects itself within a minute, and the SEOmise page notices.

Afterwards

• SEOmise appears in your WordPress sidebar and plugin list. The plugin keeps itself up to date.
• WordPress lists SEOmise's application password under Users → Profile. You can revoke it there at any time. In SEOmise, Remove WordPress password on the Site connector page forgets it and revokes it on your site where it can. The connector stays connected, but SEOmise can no longer install or re-pair it for you.

The other way: upload the plugin yourself

Download your personal plugin from Settings → Install guide → WordPress. Upload it under Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin and press Activate. It carries a one-time code and connects itself when activated, for 48 hours after the download.
