How does the "Connect to SEOmise" button in WordPress work?

Short answerIf the SEOmise Connector plugin is already on your site, press Connect to SEOmise on its screen in WordPress. Sign in to SEOmise (or create an account), choose the project, and you come back to WordPress connected.

Updated 14 October 2026

Use this when the SEOmise Connector plugin is already installed on your WordPress site but not connected yet.

Steps

  1. In WordPress, open SEOmise in the sidebar. The Overview tab shows "Connect this site to SEOmise". You need to be an Administrator.
  2. Press Connect to SEOmise. You are taken to SEOmise.
  3. Not signed in? Press Create my account or I already have an account. A new account goes through sign-up and then comes back here.
  4. Choose the project for this site: the one already set up for this address (marked Recommended), or A new project for this site, which you can name.
  5. Press the Connect button. SEOmise sends you back to WordPress with a one-time code and the plugin pairs. WordPress shows "Connected to SEOmise".

The code works once, for 30 minutes. Changes are only made after you approve them in SEOmise.

If it does not work

  • "This connection link was not started from this site, or it is older than 30 minutes": press Connect to SEOmise again.
  • "Your plan has no room for another project": upgrade under Billing, or remove a project you no longer need.
  • Your other projects are for other websites, so they cannot take this site. Choose a new project instead.
  • Pairing needs your site to use https.
  • You did not start this yourself? Close the page. Nothing has been connected.
  • Creating a pairing code in SEOmise needs a role that manages data: Owner, Admin or SEO manager.

Prefer a pairing code?

In the plugin, open I have a pairing code. In SEOmise, open the project, go to Settings → Site connector and press Create pairing code. Type the 12-character code into WordPress and press Connect with the code. The code works once, for 30 minutes.
