What it needs
- Webflow: the site connected under Settings → Connect your website → Hosted publishing → Connect Webflow, with the site chosen. Fixes need the page and asset permissions: if you connected before fixes were switched on, the Webflow card shows Connect Webflow again; press it and approve them once.
- Wix: SEOmise's Wix app added to the site and linked to the project (Store apps, or Connect Wix under Hosted publishing).
- The project's website must be that site (its platform is Webflow or Wix, or its address is the site's).
The Webflow or Wix card under Hosted publishing shows Fixes on Webflow: On (or Wix) when everything is in place, and Connections shows a Fixes on Webflow or Fixes on Wix card. While fixes are not switched on yet it shows Beta: press Ask for early access and we will e-mail you.
What it changes on Webflow
- Page titles and meta descriptions in each static page's settings. The page's sharing tags (Open Graph) are set to follow them ("Same as SEO"), unless an admin turned that off.
- Blog posts and other CMS pages (
/<collection>/<item>): the fields of the item your collection template uses for SEO. SEOmise finds fields named like "SEO title" and "Meta description"; if yours are named differently, press Choose the SEO fields of your collections on the Webflow card. - Image alt text of the site's assets. The image fix matches the pictures it found on your pages to your Webflow assets by file name; pictures placed in rich text keep their own alt text in the CMS item and come with steps.
- Redirects only for sites in a Webflow Enterprise workspace (Webflow's API takes them only there), and only when an admin allowed it.
Webflow keeps every change staged until the site is published, because publishing also takes your designer's other staged work live. So the change shows Applied, waiting for publishing in Plan & changes: publish the site in Webflow, and SEOmise checks the live page and shows the change as Live. A change that is never published is taken back after 30 days. (An admin can let SEOmise publish the site after each fix instead; Webflow allows one publish a minute.)
What it changes on Wix
- Redirects from old addresses, with Wix's own permanent (301) redirects. They are live at once.
- Blog post titles and meta descriptions (
/post/…): the SEO title and description in the post's SEO settings.
How a change goes
- The change shows what the page says now and what it will say. Edit it if you like, then approve it.
- SEOmise sends it through the platform's API and keeps what each field said before.
- SEOmise checks your live site: the new title, description, alt text or redirect must show (on Webflow once you have published).
- Undo (the whole change, or one page, image or redirect) writes the earlier values back. If someone changed that field on the platform since, SEOmise stops and asks you first.
If Webflow or Wix asks SEOmise to slow down, SEOmise waits as told and carries on where it stopped; nothing is written twice.
What stays by hand
Canonical addresses and robots tags (each page's settings), structured data, Webflow pages inside folders and utility pages, Webflow redirects outside Enterprise workspaces, Wix pages other than blog posts and Wix image alt text. Each comes with the exact steps for Webflow or Wix (I'll do it myself), one step at a time (Help me do it), or Do it for me hands it to our team. The next scan checks it.
Stopping
Under Hosted publishing press Turn fixes off on the Webflow or Wix card (and Turn fixes back on later), or disconnect the site: fixes stop at once, and the earlier values SEOmise kept for undo are deleted with the connection.
