How do I see heat maps and how far visitors scroll?

Short answerOpen Visitors → Live view, choose a page and switch on the click or mouse heat map for a period from the last 30 minutes to 30 days. Beside it you see how far visitors scrolled and what they clicked. Real-time shows the same over a copy of your page.

Heat maps need the SEOmise tracker on your website.

In Live view

  1. Open Visitors → Live view and choose a page, for example from Pages, last 30 min.
  2. Choose Click heat map or Mouse heat map, then the period: Last 30 minutes, Last 24 hours, Last 7 days or Last 30 days.
  3. Next to the page you see Views of this page, Scroll reach (the share of visitors who got to 10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% of the page) and Clicked on this page (the links and buttons clicked most).

In Real-time

Real-time (in the top bar and under Visitors) shows a copy of the page with live visitors, the heat map and scroll depth, each switched on or off, at desktop, tablet or mobile width. Click heat maps there go back up to 90 days, mouse movement up to 30 days. If a page has no copy yet, press Capture now, or Capture from a visitor's browser for pages built by JavaScript.

What you can switch off

In Live view → Settings: Clicks, Mouse heat maps (mouse positions on desktop) and Scroll depth. A busy site can record a share of visits instead of every one.

Heat maps only cover the visits that are still kept: Keep visits for in Settings is 30 days unless you change it.
