How do I add the SEOmise tracker to my website?
Short answerThe WordPress, Laravel and PHP connectors add the tracker for you. On any other platform, copy the one-line snippet from Visitors → Live view → Settings, paste it into the head of every page, then press Check installation in the Install guide.
The tracker is one small script, live.js. It powers Live view, Real-time, heat maps, scroll depth and Insights, works on any platform and uses no cookies.
With a connector
- WordPress and Laravel: the connector adds the tracker by itself once the site is connected. There is nothing to paste.
- Other PHP sites: the PHP connector file (
seomise-connector.php) adds it to the pages it runs on. You can also print the tag yourself where you want it.
Any other platform (Shopify, Wix, Webflow, static sites and more)
- Open Visitors → Live view and press Settings.
- Copy the snippet under Add it to your site. It carries your site's own key.
- Paste it before
</head>on every page, for example in your theme's header or your platform's custom code setting. - Clear any page cache.
Settings → Install guide has the exact steps for your platform, with your key filled in.
Check it works
Press Check installation in the Install guide. SEOmise loads your home page and tells you whether the tracker is there with the right key and whether visits are arriving. Then open your site in a browser where you are not signed in to WordPress: the visit appears in Visitors → Live view within seconds.
Common problems
- A page optimiser (such as WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache or Cloudflare Rocket Loader) can hold the tracker back until a visitor touches the page, so visitors appear late or not at all. Update the SEOmise connector, or exclude
live.jsin the optimiser's settings, then clear the cache. - When Google Tag Manager or a consent tool adds the tag, it does not show in the page's HTML; the check then tells you whether visits are arriving.
- Signed-in WordPress users and browsers that ask not to be tracked are not counted.
Live view has to be part of your plan and switched on for the site (Live view on in Settings).
