How do I import a Business Profile Performance report?

Short answerWhile automatic access to Google is not available yet, download the Performance report from Business Profile Manager and upload it under Act → Business Profile → Imports. SEOmise reads its columns, takes the period from the file name, matches each location, shows a preview and then imports the figures, labelled with their source and period. An import can be undone.

About Business Profile import: bring your Google Business Profile performance figures in from the report you download

Updated 27 October 2026

This is the Google Business Profile — Manual import (temporary route while API approval is pending). It works the same whatever your website is built with: the report comes from Google, and nothing is installed on your site.

Before you start

  • Uploading, mapping, confirming and undoing need the Owner, Admin or SEO manager role. Everyone else in the workspace can see the imports.
  • The import comes with plans that include Google Business Profile. While it is switched off on this installation, the page shows Beta and Ask for early access.

1. Download the report from Google

In Business Profile Manager, open the list of your businesses and download the Performance report for the period you want. It can hold one location or many. Keep the file exactly as Google made it, as CSV or Excel: its name carries the period (for example "2026-7-26 - 2026-10-23").

2. Upload it

Open your project and go to Act → Business Profile → Imports. Choose the file and press Upload and preview. Nothing is imported yet.

  • Files up to 20 MB, and 20 uploads a day per workspace (our team may set other limits).
  • The file is read on the server, scanned for viruses where a scanner is set up, and never run: formulas, macros and links inside a spreadsheet are ignored. The file itself is not kept; only what it says about your figures is stored.
  • The same file uploaded again is refused as already imported.

3. Check the preview

The preview shows what the file holds: rows to import, rows with a problem, how many locations were matched, figures Google withheld, and how many figures are new or changed.

  • Report period: taken from the file name. When the name has no dates, enter the dates you chose in Business Profile Manager. A report ending in the future, or longer than our team's limit (about 18 months), is refused as a likely mistake.
  • Columns: each column is matched by its header, never by Google's description of it. Google's row of descriptions under the headers is skipped. A column SEOmise does not know yet (renamed by Google, another language, a new metric) says Map it or ignore it: choose the figure it means, or Ignore this column, and press Save the columns. Your choice is kept, with a version number, for the next file laid out the same way.
  • Dates in columns: if your file has a start and an end date on every row, map those columns to Period start and Period end. A date such as 03/04/2026 could be either day or month first, so it is refused until you choose the order.
  • Locations: each location in the file is matched to one of the project's locations, first by store code, then by name and address. Check the suggestion in Import into: choose another location, Create a location entered by hand (with the business name from the file), or Skip these rows. Nothing is linked without you.
  • Preview: the first 20 rows, problems first. A figure that is not a whole number (text, a negative number, a formula) makes its row Not imported, with the reason.

4. Import

Press Import these figures. The import runs in the background and the page updates by itself. The history then shows Imported, or Imported, with notes when some rows had problems, some figures were withheld or some figures changed. Problems (CSV) lists every row that was not imported and why.

What the figures mean

The Performance report holds totals for the period you chose, not day-by-day figures. SEOmise keeps them as totals for that period and never spreads them over days.

Column in the report Shown as
Google Search - Mobile, Google Search - Desktop Views on Google Search (phone, computer)
Google Maps - Mobile, Google Maps - Desktop Views on Google Maps (phone, computer)
Calls, Messages, Bookings, Directions, Website clicks Calls, messages, bookings, direction requests, website clicks
Food orders, Food menu clicks, Hotel bookings Food orders, food menu clicks, hotel bookings
  • Where Google withholds a small figure (*** or "< 15") or a cell is blank, the figure is stored as missing, with the reason, and shown as Not measured. It is never shown or added up as 0. A 0 in the file is a real 0.
  • The figures appear on the Local overview (Business Profile figures), Local searches, Local Intelligence and the Google Business Profile performance report, each labelled with this source and its period.

Importing again

  • A new report for a new period adds that period.
  • A different file for the same period changes only the figures that differ. Each change is a new revision and the import is marked Imported, with notes. Nothing is counted twice.
  • Two reports whose periods overlap (for example July to October, and late September to October) are both kept and listed with their periods, but only one is added into a report's totals, so no day is counted twice: the one that ends latest (our team can choose the longest one instead). The report says when an export was listed but not added.
  • Undo (in the history) puts every figure the import wrote back as it was before. If a newer import covers the same locations and period, undo that one first.

Keeping and removing

Imported figures are your own copy, not data SEOmise reads from Google, so Google's retention periods do not apply to them. They are kept while your workspace exists unless you undo the import, remove the location, or our team sets a shorter period. Detaching a Google location keeps its imported figures unless you ask for them to be removed. When a location entered by hand is replaced by the business's Google location, its imported figures and import history move with it.
