About Backlinks: a backlink checker: who links to you, what it is worth and what needs a closer look

Updated 18 October 2026

At a glance

On Links → Links overview, Websites linking to you shows how many you have, how many you Gained and how many you Lost since the last check. Click Websites or Gained to see the list of websites.

The full history

Open Links → Backlink profile and choose New & lost. Pick a period and whether to count backlinks or referring domains (websites). The chart shows new and lost links over time next to changes made on your site, followed by lists of new referring domains, lost referring domains and lost backlinks. The Backlinks tab can also be sorted by Recently lost and filtered by first-seen and last-seen dates. The export menu exports the tab you have open, with its filters.

Links → Link health checks chosen backlinks for you: SEOmise opens each source page and confirms the link is still there, with its attribute, anchor, whether the page can be indexed and its canonical address. New links are checked daily for a week, weekly for a month, then monthly. Check now checks one at once.

Add links with Add a backlink: pick the page that links to you from the linking pages already found (or type its full address), pick your page from your scanned pages (with section, status and backlink filters), choose the expected anchor from the suggestions or type your own, and the expected attribute. What each field means is in What do the backlink fields mean?. You can also add links with Import a CSV (columns source_url, target_url, anchor; up to 1,000 rows), or by pressing Monitor on a link in the backlink profile.

Alerts

When monitoring finds a link removed, unreachable or now high risk, the people who manage backlinks get an e-mail. Alerts only follow repeated, confirmed failures: a page that cannot be reached once is not reported as a lost link.
