Run a scan
- Open Modules → MiseGuard → Privacy and choose the site. If it is not in your plan yet, the tab shows how to get it.
- Press Scan my website. It takes up to a minute.
The scanner reads the home page and up to three more: your privacy notice, cookie policy and contact page. It visits as a first-time visitor would, before agreeing to anything, and keeps every cookie your site sets. It works on any platform.
What you get
- Findings: each with what to do. They are marked To fix, Should fix, Check (SEOmise cannot tell from the page; test it), Tip or Looks right.
- Trackers: tools such as Google, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Hotjar and Clarity, what each does, its type, and whether it loads before consent.
- Cookie list: a list to paste into your cookie policy. Cookies marked "seen" were set when SEOmise visited; "expected" ones are what the trackers found usually set. It is an estimate: check it with whoever runs your site before you publish it.
- Pages read and History of earlier scans.
The summary at the top says whether the site needs attention, has a few things to check, or looks good, and which consent tool it found.
Automatic checks
Under Automatic checks, Scan again every month is on to begin with. E-mail me when a new tracker appears tells you when a monthly scan finds one.
What the scan cannot see
- There is no browser on the server, so scripts are read, not run. Tags added later by JavaScript, including those inside Google Tag Manager, do not show.
- A consent tool that blocks tags in the browser can make a tag look unblocked here; those are marked "Check".
- It reads up to four pages, not the whole site.
- Whether you need consent can depend on how a tool is set up and why you use it. This is a guide, not legal advice.
