How do I prove I own my domain?

Short answerSome features act on your domain: Domain health, the CDN screens and the Publisher Network. One proof covers them all: the SEOmise connector on your site, a DNS TXT record, a file on your site or a meta tag. SEOmise checks it again every 30 days; if a check fails you have a week's grace and are told before anything pauses.

Updated 17 October 2026

A workspace proves it controls a domain once, and every module that needs it sees the proof.

Four ways to prove it

  • The site connector: the WordPress plugin, the Laravel package or the universal PHP connector. SEOmise must reach the connector on your website and get a signed answer; pairing alone is not enough.
  • A DNS TXT record: add the record shown (it starts with seomise-verify=) where your DNS is managed.
  • A file: upload the small file shown to your website's main folder.
  • A meta tag: add the tag shown to your home page's head.

The code shown is valid for a few days until it first proves ownership. Press Check once it is in place; DNS changes can take a while to be seen.

Keeping it

SEOmise checks the proof again every 30 days. If a check fails, a grace period of a week starts: everything keeps working and the workspace is told. After it, ownership counts as lost and the features that need it pause until the proof is found again, which restores them at once.

The same domain in two workspaces needs two proofs: a code made for one workspace never proves anything for another.
