How do report templates and covers work?

Short answerA template keeps a report's choices: the sections and their order, the brand, the period, the files and its own cover (a title, a subtitle, "Prepared for" and an introduction). Use it to start a report, share it with your workspace or keep it to yourself, copy it, or change it under Reports → Templates.

Save a template

Make a report as usual. On the Sections step, tick and order the parts you want; with Cover and criteria ticked you can give the report its own cover: a title, a subtitle, who it is prepared for and a short introduction, which becomes the report's first paragraph. Leave a field empty to keep the report's own.

On the Review, press Save these choices as a template, give it a name, and choose whether to keep the project and whether to share it with the workspace. With white label, the report uses your design studio's report pages and your brand.

Use and look after templates

When you make a report, Start offers your templates and the workspace's shared ones. Every choice is checked again when the template is used: a template never carries a project or a value you may not choose.

Reports → Templates lists every template with its cover. Change renames it or changes its cover, Share it or Make it private, Copy makes your own private copy (also of a colleague's shared template), and Delete removes it. Only the person who saved a template, or a manager for a shared one, can change or delete it.
