How do I connect Claude or another AI assistant to SEOmise?
Short answerSEOmise runs an MCP server, so Claude and other AI assistants can read your projects, website health and findings with the three ways to fix, rankings, site changes, AI visibility, Proof of Progress, backlinks, the local grid and stored reports. You decide what each assistant may see. Changes an assistant asks for wait for your approval in SEOmise.
Before you start
- AI assistant connections show Beta with Ask for early access until they are switched on for your workspace.
- AI assistants are an add-on: Add-on: €19/month at the recommended price (or €190 a year; the Store shows your workspace's price), bought on top of any paid plan without changing it. Some plans include it. Having it is all the access it needs: no API access in your plan and no developer access request.
- Only owners and admins connect assistants (AI assistants in the menu, or Developer → AI assistants).
- A connection reaches every project of the workspace, so someone who sees only some projects (a client-level person, a guest or a member limited to some projects) cannot make one.
Connect an assistant that signs in
Claude, ChatGPT and other assistants with a connectors setting connect with OAuth:
- Copy the address from Developer → AI assistants (it ends in
/mcp). - Add it in your assistant as a remote MCP server or custom connector.
- Your browser opens SEOmise. Sign in if asked, check the assistant's name and where it sends you back, tick what it may see and ask, and press Allow.
The assistant gets a token that lasts an hour at a time (by default) and renews by itself while you use it. It never sees your password.
Connect a tool that takes a header
Claude Code, Cursor and other tools configured with a header use a connection token:
- Under Make a connection token, name it, tick what it may see and ask, and choose how many days it lasts.
- Copy the token straight away: it is shown once.
- Send it as
Authorization: Bearer smp_ct_…. The page shows the command for Claude Code.
What an assistant can do
Reading is free and uses only what SEOmise already stores:
- list_projects, get_site_health, list_findings (each finding with I'll fix it myself, Help me do it and Do it for me, and their credits), get_rankings, list_site_changes, get_ai_visibility, get_proof_of_progress, get_backlinks_summary, get_local_grid and list_stored_reports.
- Two prompts: an SEO review of a project and a client update.
When your administrators switch it on, an assistant may also ask for a draft change set (titles and descriptions, alt text, redirects), a new scan or an article draft in your brand voice. Nothing changes when it asks: the request waits under Waiting for your approval with what it costs in credits. Someone whose role allows it presses Approve or Decline. An approved change set is a proposed change in Changes, which still needs its own approval before it reaches your site. Requests expire after three days unless your administrators set another time.
Safety
- Each connection sees only your workspace and what you ticked; anything else is refused.
- Texts from websites in the answers (titles, reviews, AI answers) are marked as data, never instructions, and shortened.
- Each connection may make a limited number of calls a minute. Every call is listed under Recent calls.
- Revoke stops a connection at once. It also stops when its person leaves the workspace or loses the role.
When the add-on ends
Cancel it any time on the AI assistants screen or under Store → My purchases: it stays on until the end of the paid period. Then every connection is paused: assistants are told the add-on ended and nothing can be read. Add it again and the same connections work again, with nothing to set up. (Your administrators can choose to disconnect them instead.)
Every platform works the same way: the data is SEOmise's own, whether your site runs on WordPress, Laravel, another platform with the universal connector, or is managed by hand.
