What does "See the magic" on an SEO audit do?

Short answer"See the magic" sits at the top of every finished SEO audit, on the free audit and in the app. It opens the website's live view: who is on it now, the pages they read, where they come from and heat maps of where they click. With the site connected and a plan that includes the connector you see your real visitors; otherwise you see the same screen on sample data and what it takes to see your own.

See the magic is the button at the top of a finished SEO audit: on the free audit on our website, and on every audit report in the app (Reports → SEO audit report and Workspace → SEO report builder).

What happens when you press it

The screen turns into the same whirlpool as opening Real-time, and the live view of the website opens out of it:

  • People on the site right now, the pages with someone on them, visits and page views in the last 30 minutes, minute by minute;
  • As it happens: a feed of people arriving, moving to another page and clicking;
  • Where they come from (search, AI assistants, social, other websites, direct), countries and devices;
  • a heat map per page of where people click or move the mouse, over 24 hours, 7 or 30 days, with the most clicked things and how far people scroll.

Export report gives the real-time snapshot or the historical traffic for a period (today, 7, 28 or 90 days, or 12 months) as a PDF in your brand or as a spreadsheet (CSV). Exports hold counts only, never visitors' addresses. Open Real-time goes to the full Real-time screen, where the clicks are drawn on your page itself.

When you see sample data

You see your own visitors only when all of this is true: you are signed in, the audited website is the main website of one of your projects, your plan includes the site connector and Real-time, and the site is connected (the connector, or the one-line tracker, has been heard from).

Otherwise the live view opens on sample data: made-up visitors and clicks, clearly labelled Sample data at the top, on the heat map and across the screen, so you can try every button. Mise, our astronaut, explains in a card what is missing, and the button on it takes you there:

  • Get and connect: you are not signed in, or your plan does not include the connector. It opens sign-up (or Billing) with the plan chosen.
  • Connect : your plan includes it, but the site is not connected yet. It opens the project's Site connector: one click on WordPress, a package on Laravel, the PHP connector file or one line of code on any other platform.
  • Add and connect: your plan includes it, but the website is not one of your projects yet.

Fold the card away with –, or move it to the other side with ⇆; it comes back when you try to export.

Privacy

A website's live data is only ever shown to the workspace that owns its project, and only to people who may see the project. Pressing the button on someone else's site never shows their visitors.

Staff can change the button's words, Mise's lines, the plan offered and switch the button or the whirlpool off. If your device asks for less motion, the whirlpool is a short fade; you can also turn it off under Account → Screen effects.
